Message from the Executive Headteacher

Welcome to St Matthew’s Church of England Primary Academy

St Matthew's CofE Primary Academy Gayton

We are delighted to welcome you to the new website for St Matthew’s Church of England Primary Academy.

September 2026 marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter as Gayton Church of England Primary Academy and Middleton Church of England Primary Academy come together as one school community. While our name is new, we are proud to carry forward the history, traditions and wonderful communities that have shaped both schools over many years.

St Matthew’s is a village school at the heart of the communities we serve. We are incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by supportive families, local organisations, our churches and the many people who care deeply about our children and our school. We look forward to building on these strong foundations and creating many new memories together.

Our school building in Gayton, which was built in 2022, provides a welcoming and vibrant home for our growing school community. It is a place where children learn, play, make friends, discover new talents and develop the confidence to take their next steps in life. As we begin this new chapter, we are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and the ways in which we can continue to develop our school for the children and families we serve.

As a Church of England school, our Christian vision and values are at the heart of all that we do. We want every child to feel known, valued and encouraged to be the very best that they can be. Our values of Ready, Respectful and Safe underpin the way we learn, work and care for one another.

Bringing our two schools together gives us an exciting opportunity to share our strengths, learn from one another and create an even richer experience for our children. We are looking forward to developing new friendships, new traditions and new opportunities, while continuing to celebrate all that makes our villages and our school communities so special.

There is a real sense of excitement about what the future holds for St Matthew’s. We know that the best schools are built on strong relationships, a shared sense of belonging and a community that works together. We are proud to be beginning this journey with our children, families, staff, governors, churches and wider community alongside us.

We hope that as you explore our new website, you will get a feel for who we are, what we value and the many wonderful things happening at St Matthew’s.

This is the beginning of an exciting new chapter – and we can't wait to see where it takes us.

Mrs Niamh Allitt
